I know there are some apps are not available on the App Store or Google Play Store, these apps tend to be the ones that are less secure. This means apps that contain malicious code are likely to have been removed before you install them. Also, jailbreaking your iPhone or rooting your Android can harm your phone, especially when you don't know what are you doing. If you want to do that it will give you access to the basic, so malicious code has a much easier route to making changes too. If you are familiar with rooting and jailbreaking then you need to be careful and ensure the security of your device.

Also, it allows you to be safe by storing all the files that you want to secure within a dedicated area of your device or on an SD card, as well as being able to wipe the data after unsuccessful login attempts.

Keep Location settings enabled

What is the worst case scenario could happen to your phone? of course, someone could steal it, so what you could do? keep your location settings enabled, so you can track your phone when you go to your Google account or find my phone app from another device and if you can't find your phone because it turned off, in one click you can delete all the data on it. in that way, no one can touch your personal information. Trust me it's very important, it happened to me last year. 

Use wearable tech

Wearable devices such as Smartwatches and fitness watches have the ability to know when you've left your phone behind. Also, if the Bluetooth connection is broken when out of range, the watch buzzes to let you know. in addition, it allows you to ring your phone if it's still in range. This is useful beyond being able to locate your phone when you've dropped it down the back of your bed then you can make it ring and track it down.
